Dermatological Techniques

Numerous dermatologic techniques are done to test for a wide variety of diseases or to treat often minor dermatologic diseases or conditions in a rapid and non-invasive manner. Some normal dermatologic techniques used to test for diseases are shave, biopsies, punch, and excision biopsy; microbiological culture regularly called a skin culture; Wood's lamp examination and skin allergy patch testing. The outcomes from these tests can be utilized to either affirm or rule out a diagnosis, such as skin cancer or a fungal skin infection.
